Who We Are

Three Mile Island Citizens' Monitoring Network (TMI-CMN) was founded in 1989 to provide independent monitoring of radiation levels in the area surrounding the TMI nuclear facility. TMI-CMN consists currently of about thirty members who represent a cross-section of the local population, including doctors, professors, housewives, and retirees. Membership in TMI-CMN is open to everybody who is willing to accept the bylaws of the corporation. All the current members live in the TMI area, and most were present during the 1979 accident.

Funding for the monitoring system is provided by a grant from the Three Mile Island Public Health Fund from the settlement of a class action lawsuit following the accident.
